“Purpose: Fer-1 To present the oncologic and functional outcomes of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) and analyze retroperitoneal and transperitoneal approaches.

Patients and Methods: RAPN was performed on 103 patients; 44 patients underwent a retroperitoneal and 59 a transperitoneal approach. Demographic,

operative, and postoperative data was collected and retrospectively analyzed on all patients.

Results: Overall average warm ischemic time was 20.4 (0-48) minutes, total operative time was 175.3 (85-330) minutes, and estimated blood loss was 258.1 (20-3100) mL. When retroperitoneal and transperitoneal approaches were compared, there was no significant difference in warm ischemic time but a significant reduction in both estimated

blood loss and total operative time in the retroperitoneal group.

Conclusion: Our series would suggest that if performed by a surgeon familiar with a laparoscopic retroperitoneal approach to renal surgery, retroperitoneal RAPN is at least equivalent to the more common transperitoneal approach in the outcomes assessed.”
“The antioxidant potential of 70% methanolic extracts from the inflorescences, leaves and fruits of Sorbus aucuparia, S. aria and S. intermedia was evaluated using MLN2238 molecular weight three in vitro

test systems ( DPPH: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl; TEAC: trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity and FRAP: ferric reducing/antioxidant power). High activities found were expressed as micromoles trolox equivalents per gram dry weight and were in the range of 86.9-956.2 for the DPPH test, 65.3-577.2 for the TEAC assay and 221.1-1915.2 for the FRAP method. Significant linear correlations (R(2) in the range of 0.75-0.98) between these values and the contents of total phenolics, total flavonoids, total proanthocyanidins and chlorogenic acid isomers showed that the listed phenolic compounds are determinants of the antioxidant capacity tested. As the superior activity and the highest phenolic levels PCI-34051 (11.83% of total phenolics calculated as gallic acid equivalents, 4.35% of chlorogenic acid isomers, 5.01% of proanthocyanidins and 1.28% of flavonoid aglycones) were found for S. aucuparia inflorescence, this plant material has the greatest potential as a source for natural health products.”
